North Van Lawn Bowling Charity Tournament

Make up a team of four from your business and join us at this fun event supporting the North Shore Lookout Emergency Aid Society.

This will be our 5th year in this fun event, see you there!

 Car Wash 2007Relay For Life Charity Car Wash
This years car wash raised $2,400 for the Canadian Cancer Society, bring our total this year to $3,900. Special Thanks to Louis Gervais Fine Foods and Starbucks Coffee for donating food and drink to our volunteers!
 
 Capilano Suspension BridgeBritish Columbia Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund
The Capilano Suspension Bridge promised to donate $100 per firefighter who showed up for a photo on the bridge. Local 296 was there!
 
 NVCFF and RCMP Centennial BallNorth Vancouver City Fire Fighters and RCMP Centennial Ball
Local 296,  together with the North Vancouver City Fire Department and the local RCMP participated in a formal ball to celebrate the  100 year anniversary of the City Of North Vancouver
 
  
 

 

Past Events for 2007:

 

MD Boot Drive 

This year our members were out at several locations collecting money for the fight against Muscular Dystrophy. This years effort allowed us to donate$7,700 to the cause.

 

 

Lonsdale Mile

This year was the first year of the Lonsdale Mile, a timed run beginning before the Canada Day parade. Money raised at the event was donated to the BC Professional FireFighters Burn Fund. 

 

 

Relay For Life Car Wash 

The firefighters were out Saturday May 19th at NV City Fire Hall #1 washing cars for charity. Local businesses donated food and coffee to keep our washers fuelled for the whole day.

 

 

Car Wash 2007

 

 

The kids were donning their fire fighting helmets and dressing up in miniature turnout gear to try their hand at spraying water from an 1 1/2" fire hose.

 

Relay For Life Silent Auction

The North Vancouver City FireFighters held a fundraising event at the Mosquito Creek Bar and Grill Saturday April 21st featuring a silent auction, T-shirt sales and a toonie toss for a bottle of Crown Royal.

 

The event was a huge success raising $1,700 for the Canadian Cancer Society.

The NV Lawn Bowling Club Charity Tournament

 

Local 296 entered 2 teams this year in the competitive community challenge tournament at the North Vancouver Lawn Bowling Club. All proceeds from this event went to the Lookout Emergency Aid Society.

 

Our teams were coached by the well respected Manns family, featuring retired NVCFD Captain Perry Manns, his son, WVFD Firefighter Cary Manns, and Perry's lovely wife Lorraine Manns. All 3 are well known lawn bowling tournament champions! 

 

Christmas Tree Chip Up for Scholarships!

 

 

This year's Christmas tree chip-up was held at the Park and Tilford Rona on Saturday January 6th from 8:30 to 4:30.

 

It was a busy year! Money raised through donations will be used to present scholarships to eligable North Vancouver City high school students.

 MS BootdriveMuscular Dystrophy Boot Drive
Local 296 raises money every year for Muscular Dystrophy Canada with an annual boot drive. This popular event raised XXXX dollars last year to aid in research that will hopefully make this ailment a thing of the past!
 
 North Vancouver Lawn Bowling Club’s Corporate Challenge
Local 296 recently participated in the North Vancouver Lawn Bowling Club’s Corporate Challenge Tournament, entering 2 teams in the fundraising event benefiting the Lookout Emergency Aid Society.
 
 Canadian Cancer SocietyRelay For Life
Local 296 recently held a fundraising car wash to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. This event raised $2300 towards the cause, and was followed by a T-Shirt sale that raised another $900. The relay itself was on June 10th, 2006 and raised $260,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
 
 Bright NightsBright Nights
Local 296 supplies volunteers for “Bright Nights” presented by the BC Professional FireFighters Burn Fund. Every year the miniature train and surrounding area at Stanley Park is extensively decorated for the Christmas holiday season. The very popular event raises money to support burn victims.
